Who is eligible?
The Noel Compass Scholars Program is open to students of color in strong academic standing at a Wisconsin High School. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or possess legal resident alien status and be residents of the State of Wisconsin. Students selected as Noel Compass Scholars will have demonstrated the potential for academic success, as well as leadership, school, and community involvement. Parental or guardian support is important, since students will be participating in internship programs and other mentoring activities during their school years.
Students must be nominated by a teacher or guidance counselor. Upon graduation from high school and admission to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Noel Compass Scholars qualify for tuition, room and board. The Noel Compass Scholarship is coordinated with Federal or State aid received in the form of grants (PELL, etc.) to equal the full cost of tuition and room/board. College scholarships may be renewed each year for up to four years, as long as the student maintains a grade point average of 2.5 or higher, performs responsibly in the internship and maintains full-time student status. Students participate in a paid internship within the AIG Travel Guard offices during each school year and summer break. Commitment to the internship is a requirement of the scholarship program.
