NOEL COMPASS SCHOLARS

In 1996, John and Patty Noel started the Noel Compass Scholars Program to help encourage and reward academic achievement, leadership and citizenship among students in Wisconsin's urban communities. The program is a privately funded initiative that offers an academic scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a paid internship within the Noel Group offices. The Noel Compass Scholarship offers students the opportunity to gain a quality post-secondary education and meaningful career experience - two important elements to a student's future success. The program's success has exceeded expectations as the Stevens Point community, Noel Group, Travel Guard, and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point have been greatly impacted through the diversity of these dynamic students.

Best of all, fellow employees have embraced these students and consider them part of their extended families. As a result of the tremendous support and encouragement received, the students are far more likely to stay in school and earn their degrees.

"I am delighted that the Noel Compass Foundation has such a strong commitment to assisting students of color in achieving their academic and personal goals. Recipients of these scholarships, their families, and our own community are deeply enriched by their participation and success in higher education."

Noel Compass Scholar Lead by Example Scholarship:

The Noel Compass Scholars (NCS) have recently formed the Noel Compass Scholar Lead by Example Scholarship to benefit fellow students at UW-Stevens Point (Stevens Point, WI).

During the summer of 2005, the Noel Compass Scholar Lead by Example Scholarship was founded by the Compass Scholars to both honor the vision and determination of John and Patty Noel, as well as create an opportunity for the Compass Scholars to reinvest in the University and surrounding community.

The NCS Lead by Example Scholarship will financially assist a student of color attending the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. The scholarship, funded solely by current and alumni Noel Compass Scholars, is awarded to well-rounded students who have demonstrated the ability to balance academics, extracurricular activities, volunteer projects, part-time jobs, and personal interests. The annual amount varies.
